Renting a car in Canggu: what to know
Canggu grew far faster than its roads. Berawa and Batu Bolong are still village-width while the traffic on them is town-sized, and from midday queues can stop dead for minutes at a time. Map estimates are almost always wrong here, so we leave twenty to thirty minutes earlier. Many guests in Canggu are staying for weeks, so bookings tend to repeat: one day to Ubud, another to Tanah Lot, which is only half an hour west.

Jalan Pantai Berawa and Batu Bolong are narrow and clog from mid-afternoon. We usually leave twenty to thirty minutes earlier than the map suggests.
